our favorite old flag + beautiful faces

Almost three years ago, we pulled together our very first imogene + willie photo shoot. We had two styles of jeans in those early days: as you brave women remember, we only offered the hot, tight and hard Imogene Rigid, and then for men, Willie.

So we grabbed vintage clothes from our closet, taped off the only blank wall in the shop, hung up a 48-star American flag that was found in the attic of our best friend Stuart’s house in our hometown, and then… the models?

We knew from the beginning that the only people that could convey how to wear our clothes were the real people that wore them. So we called everyone we could think of that lived in close proximity to the shop and asked them to show up the following day to play dress up. About fifty folks showed up.

I look back at these pictures, particularly the faces, so very often. To me, the images truly reflect the heart and soul of imogene + willie: all the people that surround it.

Thankful for freedom, friends and family.

Happy 4th!
